Overload is a 6DoF (Six Degrees of Freedom) first-person shooter developed by Revival Productions. The studio was created by the experienced developers responsible for the iconic Descent series, from which Overload takes handfuls of inspiration. Just like in its precursor, the players control a futuristic vehicle that breaks all the laws of physics with its movement mechanics. Our job will be to destroy a reactor and escape in one piece.

Overload might just be the greatest six degrees of freedom game yet with its tight and intuitive controls and gorgeous presentation.

While I doubt it will have any trouble bringing in loyal followers, Overload might find it more difficult to attract new blood.

Overload harks back to simpler times in gaming and executes its brief perfectly. Billed as a spiritual successor to Descent it delivers to those fans in spades. Those too young to remember it though may find themselves wondering what all the hype is about.
Overload Description
Overload for PC, PS4 and XONE is a 6DoF (Six Degrees of Freedom) first-person science fiction shooter developed by Revival Productions. The game is a spiritual successor to the cult game series Descent. Studio that created Overload is made of the creators of the original Descent games, but they have lost the rights to the franchise when they sold it to the studio Descendent, who developed the official contuniation called Descent: Underground.
The Plot
Just like in the Descent games, plot in Overload for PC, PS4 and XONE is not that important and elaborate and works as a modest background for gameplay. We control a futuristic space vehicle and our goal is to destroy a reactor that is defended by dozens of robots and escaping in one piece.
Mechanics
Gameplay mechanics in Overload for PC, PS4 and XONE are an updated version of what players could see in the original Descent. We will fight with numerous robots from which every single one uses different battle tactics. During our adventures we will explore many locations (designed according to the “deformed cube” scheme known from Descent), look for shortcuts, search for keys that will give as access to new parts of the compound, and free the cryogenically frozen hostages. In combat, we will use one of the twelve available weapon types which we can upgrade as we play, making them more powerful. It is important because we will have to face not only regular enemies, but also more powerful bosses. Depending on player’s skills and preferences, the game offers five difficulty levels.
Game Modes
Unlike the original Descent series and the multiplayer Descent: Underground, Overload for PC, PS4 and XONE focuses on single player and has no multiplayer modes.
Technical Aspects
Overload for PC, PS4 and XONE combines solutions from the original Descent games with modern, highly detailed and advanced visuals. Soundtrack was composed by the real veteran composers, Dan Wentz and Allister Brimble. They have created music for the original Descent games and other productions like Freespace: Great War or Dungeon Master II. The game comes with a functional editor that allows the players to create their own maps and missions.
