Outwars

Outwars is a vast world - during the journey we visit a tropical jungle, a colony in the desert, forgotten ice deserts or a planet resembling a beehive. The locations are extremely spacious, so that the player has a great deal of freedom in moving the character. The game is based on the mission system, but it is quite non-linear, and thus - the game is less predictable. Before each new order, we modify the heavy armour of the main character, as well as we choose the armour of our companions controlled by artificial intelligence. What's more, during the game itself we can give them orders. The action does not focus solely on shooting. It's up to the player to fulfill their assigned task - less direct way or in an open fire. Slightly tactical approach to gameplay and a few interesting solutions in mechanics make this not another FPS in the style of "kill everyone and find a way out".

Both standard and more futuristic equipment is at the player's disposal. We use not only rocket launchers or mines, but also plasma rifles and similar weapons. The jet rucksack helps us to move, which gives us new possibilities - sometimes thanks to it we will disappear from the firing line or get to a good position, from which we can easily eliminate enemy units.

In addition to the feature campaign, Outwars also includes a multiplayer mode for up to eight people. Players have several types of fun at their disposal, from cooperation, through Capture the Flag, to the traditional Deathmatch team.

The title supports hardware acceleration, and the game delights with its openness and variety of planets visited. Equally impressive are all animations, including above all controlled characters - legs and torso are controlled separately, which was rather rare in video games before 1998. Not less important is the full sound reproduction of the production, which is at a high level.
