Outlast: Whistleblower Description
Whistleblower is the title of the official DLC supplement to the highly acclaimed survival horror movie Outlast by Red Barrels studio. In terms of storyline, we are dealing with a prequeel - the extension tells a completely new story, set before the events known from the original game.
The action takes place again in the already known to us psychiatric hospital Mount Massive. This time, however, we will play one of the employees of the plant, whose anonymous denunciation brought the hero of Outlast, Miles Upshur, to this place. A seemingly normal facility conceals a gloomy secret, and the doctors working in the hospital secretly carry out repulsive experiments on people.
The truth comes to light, however, leading to a rebellion of patients, as a result of which most of the hospital staff are brutally murdered. We manage to survive in order to discover a number of urgently hidden facts about Murkoff corporation in the course of further game. It is behind these experiments, which turned Mount Massive into a proverbial hell on earth.
For the purpose of the patch new sections of the hospital were designed, which we were not able to visit in the basic version of the game. We will also be confronted with completely new opponents. Technically, Whistleblower does not make any significant changes based on the same proprietary engine. As in the original, we are dealing with a linear plot, focusing on exploring the gloomy rooms of Mount Massive. The atmosphere of the game is also unchanging, built up by understatements, dark graphics and suggestive sound effects.
