Organic Panic Description
Organic Panic for AND, PC and etc. is a colourful 2.5D platformer combining dynamic action with solving puzzles based on physics. This is an independent production by Damon and Anatole Branch – brothers forming Last Limb studio. It has been created as a part-time production since 2008, but the work gathered real momentum after a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2013 – the project raised about $40.000. Once the cooperation was established with GameMill, the game’s development was on a home run.
Plot
Organic Panic provides the player with an unusual conflict between two peculiar fractions – the good Vegetables & Fruits and the evil Meat and Cheese empires. Single player mode tells a story of four main heroes – Cherry, Kiwi, Carrot, and Coconut – that set out on a journey with the aim of rescuing their mentor – Apple – from the evil forces’ twisted leader named Baby Cheese. The story is told through the in-game comic.
Gameplay
Each of the mentioned heroes has unique powers that must be used in order to succeed in solving environmental puzzles and fighting meat and dairy enemies. The characters have the power to shape and modify the environment – e.g. Cherry controls Earth and digs through the ground, Kiwi controls Water and can flood entire levels.
The “reshaping” of levels bears a resemblance to the similar “reshaping” seen in the Worms series, but it is much more dynamic here. Moreover, the environment in Organic Panic is influenced by physical impacts. For example, if you cut a ledge off its base, it will fall and smash the enemies beneath it. Water and lava also behave in a natural and impressive way as they pour into holes and drown the opponents. This is achieved due to the implementation of the authors’ advanced D.A.F.T Engine (Destructible and Fluid Technology).
The game offers more than 200 levels prepared by the developers. PlayStation 4 users can create their own levels with the implemented editor.
Game modes
Gameplay takes place on various levels – both puzzle enthusiasts and action fans should be satisfied. Apart from single player, the game also offers co-op and versus local mode.
