One Piece: Unlimited World Red Deluxe Edition Description
One Piece: Unlimited World Red is a three-dimensional action game set in the world of One Piece manga created by Echiiro Oda. It has been developed by Bandai Namco company and Ganbarion studio, which regularly works on console games from the franchise since 2001, though most of them were released only in Japan. It should be noted that manga itself is the most popular and the best selling manga in this country, with each volume selling in a few millions copies. Deluxe Edition offers the content of the basic game and over 50 DLC added after original release.
Plot
The story of One Piece manga follows Monkey D. Luffy, a rookie pirate with supernatural powers, and his eccentric crewmates, as they search for titular One Piece – the legendary treasure of equally legendary “Pirate King” Gold Roger. One Piece: Unlimited World Red for PC, PS4 and SWITCH offers a unique story created in cooperation with original author, as heroes find a talking raccoon named Pat who asks them to take him the Forgotten Island, where he is supposed to have a meeting with very important person. As protagonists land on the island, it turns out it is ruled by very ambitious and dangerous pirate called Red, who recently escaped a prison. Strawhat Pirates decide to set their base in Trans Town, from which they will venture to defeat Red and many other pirates known from the original manga and anime series.
Game mechanics
Interestingly, the gameplay of One Piece: Unlimited World Red is the closest to the popular Monster Hunter series. Players can choose from nine members of Strawhat crew, including Luffy himself. Each of them has different skills and fighting style, basically being an equivalent of classes from RPG titles. Fans favorite Chopper focuses on healing skills, while sharpshooter Usopp prefers ranged battles, etc. Game’s core is an exploration of locations, filled with creatures and enemies.
The previously mentioned Trans Town acts as a base location, which will be developed with new buildings as players progress with the plot and collect materials. This will unlock more non-playable characters to talk with, equipment to buy and missions to perform.
Games modes
While One Piece: Unlimited World Red for PC, PS4 and SWITCH can be played alone, the game offers multiplayer mode for up to four people. Like in Monster Hunter series, players can perform missions together, hunting dangerous creatures and trying to defeat the most dangerous pirates.
Technical aspects
One Piece: Unlimited World Red uses three-dimensional visuals based on comic style modern episodes of One Piece anime series, with huge levels massive bosses. As far as audio goes, the game goes with original Japanese voices and sounds that veterans of the franchise will easily recognize.
