Once Upon A Puppet is a platforming game set in a theatrical world. The game was developed by the independent studio Flatter than Earth, composed partially by former employees of Ubisoft and Blizzard Entertainment.

Gameplay

In Once Upon a Puppet we watch the action from the side. During the game we take control of a puppet named Drev, connected by a spool and thread to its caretaker - Nieve. The adventure leads us through various locations, which we explore by jumping on platforms, swinging over abysses, avoiding terrain obstacles and dodging traps. We must also deal with dark creatures desiring the downfall of the theatre.

In addition to this, there are environmental puzzles here, which involve rebuilding scenes by arranging props, as well as setting backgrounds and characters. We can interact with other characters, providing an opportunity to get to know their personalities.

Once Upon a Puppet is a good puzzle-adventure game that is also funny, touching, and full of style. Maybe the methods aren't very new, but what counts is the beautifully staged story of what kind of magic happens behind the scenes.
