Omega Labyrinth Z

Omega Labyrinth Z is a continuation of Omega Labyrinth from 2015. As before, we are dealing with a Japanese roguelike game, developed by Matrix Software.

Story

The story told in Omega Labyrinth Z focuses on the Holy Grail of Beauty - a magical object hidden deep underground, which can only be accessed during one day of the year when the Embellir Girls Academy opens its doors. This artifact is so valuable because the girl who finds it can expect to have any wish fulfilled. The main character of the game, Aina Akemiya, decides to take up the challenge and set off on its search.

Mechanics

In Omega Labyrinth Z the action is watched from a camera suspended above the heads of the characters - before entering the underground, we can decide whether the heroine is to wander alone or to be accompanied by one of her friends in the dangerous journey. During the game, we travel through procedurally generated labyrinths of caves, collect equipment and develop our protege, as well as the fight various adversaries. It is worth remembering the permadeath mechanics, due to which after Aina's death we start the adventure from scratch. The battles take place in a turn-based mode, on a board covered with tactical grid, and during the battles it is important to skillfully juggle the combat skills of our charge and her companion, as well as take a proper position on the battlefield.

By eliminating subsequent opponents, we gain the so-called Omega Power, which simultaneously plays the role of currency and a type of mana. We can use it to buy useful equipment from merchants, identify items (especially melee weapons, although this also applies to underwear that increases girls' defensive capabilities) or increase the size of the heroines' breasts. After reaching size Z, a heroin gets access to her most powerful attack, that is Hyper Omega Slash - unfortunately using it means starting the whole process anew, so it is worth to use it with caution.

In the game there is also a system of stat development and protagonists' skills after leveling up - there is also a possibility of temporary buff of girls' attributes through their touch, thanks to the Faint Awakening system.

Technical aspects

Omega Labyrinth Z visuals adopt manga style. While its three-dimensional elements look rather mediocre, the two-dimensional drawings of the protagonists (visible, for example, in scenes of conversations in the visual novel segments) are eye-catching with their attention to detail.
