Off-Peak is an adventure game in a surrealistic style. The game was developed by an independent developer known as Cosmo D, a member of the American music band Archie Pelago. The game is distributed for free.

Plot

The action of Off-Peak takes place in the near future. During the game we find ourselves at a gloomy railway station and our task is to get a ticket for a train that will take us out of town. On the way to the destination, we get to know the fate of other people at the station (most of whom are musicians and artists who are better or worse off), numerous secrets hidden by this place, as well as scraps of the plot which is a commentary on the current situation of the music industry.

Mechanics

In Off-Peak the action is observed from the first person perspective (FPP). Looking around the corners of the station, we find ourselves in more and more strange or even more disturbing places. The impression of being in a bad dream is intensified by the characters you meet, many of whom look and behave in a not entirely normal way. Talking to them allows us to get to know their fate as well as the next elements of the plot puzzle, and looking into every corner - to discover the secrets of this place.

Technical aspects

Off-Peak is based on Unity technology. The graphics of this game were maintained in an original style referring to the famous Polish school of film posters from the communist era. Although the character's animations are extremely poor and the environment does not drip into details, all this fits well with the surrealistic surroundings of the whole. The game is made more attractive by a psychedelic soundtrack by Archie Pelago, who combines electronic sounds with instrumental music.
