In the last moment, the protagonist is rescued by a mysterious force, but as he looks for a way to escape, he quickly learns that he hasn't been saved yet and still needs to fight for his life. Octave utilizes a side view perspective.
Octave for PC and AND is a horror point-and-click adventure game with action elements. It was developed by indie one-man Anate Studio from Ukraine, known from the well-receive similar game The Kite released in 2012.
Plot
In Octave you play as a man, who find himself in a wrong place at a wrong time. When a murdered takes him to a forest, the protagonist is rescued in the last moment by a mysterious force. While trying to find his way through the woods, he realizes that he hasn't really been saved yet, and another nightmare just began, forcing him to further fight for his life.
Mechanics
The production is an adventure game with a classic point-and-click system and additional action elements. It utilizes a side view perspective. The gameplay consists of traversing locations full of varied puzzles and malevolent shadows and monsters, which you have to fight. During the game, you visit not only the dark forest, but also a haunted abandoned house and an underground complex, where the best way to survive is to simply run.
Technical aspects
Octave for PC and AND features slightly oldschool but atmospheric 2D visuals. The grimness of the locations is additionally underscored by a fitting soundtrack.
