The NVIDIA VR Funhouse, released on PC, is a compilation of seven mini-games that requires virtual reality goggles to work. The production was created by Lightspeed Studios, and the player goes to an amusement park filled with various attractions.
Mechanics
Gameplay in NVIDIA VR Funhouse varies depending on the selected mini-game. We can play in a shooting range (we can dest ourselves both in using firearms and a bow), become a boxer (where we hit objects jumping out of the ground Whac-a-mole style), fencing-based competitions (our targets here are balloons filled with confetti), or shooting with guns loaded with green, sticky liquid at clowns.
It is worth mentioning that the game offers mods and Steam Workshop support - thanks to this, people can share their work with the community. The creators have also shared their mods with players. In Zero-Gravity Goo, the player, using guns known from the basic version of the game, creates a variety of green patterns in zero-gravity. Great Moles of Fire is another variation on Whac-a-mole, in which we hit fiery heads, while Tommy Gun adds the cult rifle to the shooting range. There is also Super Whac-a-Mole, where we hit objects jumping out of the ground from every direction - we are literally surrounded by them.
In each of the variants, the action is presented from the first-person perspective, and we use dedicated motion controllers to control our character. The game is also accompanied by a point counter, which constantly monitors our actions.
Technical aspects
At the time of its release, NVIDIA VR Funhouse was one of the best-looking productions designed for virtual reality goggles - this shouldn't be a surprise as it was created mainly as a presentation of NVIDIA's advanced graphics technologies. However, this is reflected in the high hardware requirements - to enjoy the graphics in full detail, the player needs a top-of-the-line PC.
