Not Tonight is an adventure game with RPG features created by Panic Barn studio. It was the first project of the team developed for PC and consoles, as it previously developed only mobile titles.

Plot

Developers presented players with a dystopian vision of a future. The story of Not Tonight starts after negations between Great Britain left the European Union were broke off due to an extremist coming to power. A new government decides to arrest all outsiders and then deport them. The protagonist, known only as “Person of European Heritage #112”, and is sent a closed district refashioned to a relocation camp to wait for expulsion from the country

Game mechanics

Not Tonight focuses on making decisions and fulfilling tasks within a highly non-linear story with various outcomes. Players can choose to avoid troubles while trying to survive till the time of their deportation and return to their country or join a local resistance trying to overthrow the government. Their actions determine the fates of both the district and the whole of Great Britain.

However, the most important thing is to make ends meet by working as a bouncer at clubs, pubs, parties, and festivals. It is impossible to find a permanent employment in the district, so players must keep looking for new jobs, e.g. with the help of BouncR program. Players must check ID cards, manage a guestlists and make sure that participants cause no troubles. This is where the RPG features come into play, with the developing of the protagonist’s statistics, modifying his apartment and obtaining better equipment. This lets him be more effective and opens new possibilities.

Technical aspects

Not Tonight uses retro visuals with huge pixels, fitting for the game’s world and a tone of the story.
