Nostalgia is a representative of the species of Japanese RPGs. Two Japanese companies, Matrix Software (Final Fantasy III and IV for DS) and Red Entertainment (e.g. Gungrave series) are responsible for the preparation of this game.
The plot of the game takes us to the world from the nineteenth century. We follow an alternative version of the course of events, and the whole is set in steampunk climates, which means that magic is directly interwoven with technology. During the game we take control over a boy born in London named Eddie. We set off on a dangerous journey with the intention of saving the world, visiting the United States (New York), Egypt (Cairo) and Russia, among others. It is worth mentioning that we use a huge airship to move between the available locations.
The right model of the game does not differ much from the achievements of the competition. As we explore new areas, we solve quests characterized by a non-linear structure, complete the team, explore vast underground in search of treasures and get better and better equipment. Noteworthy in this case are advanced options to modify the appearance and arming of the airship. As the game progresses, our team advances to higher levels of experience and we gain access to further actions from the skill tree.
Naturally, battles in which we participate regularly play an important role. These clashes occur in two basic varieties. Battles involving monsters and team members take place on a small area and the turn-based system, while battles on board the airship are more dynamic and give more freedom of movement.
Nostalgia's visuals show a high level of workmanship. The struggles of the main team are observed in full three dimensions, and the camera often changes its position.
