Nobunaga's Ambition Online is a network role-playing (MMOcRPG) by one of the largest Japanese companies specializing in the production of computer games - Koei (producer of Dynasty Warriors and Kessen series, among others). This title was originally released on PlayStation 2, but it wasn't until some time later that it was decided to be transferred to personal computers. It is also worth mentioning that the game was created exclusively with the Japanese market in mind.
Nobunaga's Ambition Online was set in sixteenth-century feudal Japan, specifically during the period called Sengoku Jidai (1478-1603). According to many historians, this was one of the bloodiest periods in the history of the country. In the course of its duration, the various authorities fiercely fought with each other, with the civilian population murdered in the tens of thousands. Lovers of realistic solutions will be interested in the fact that the authors have not forgotten about well-known figures from this period (Iyasu Tokugawa or Oda Nobunaga, who came to power in the 60s of the 16th century).
Producers of Nobunaga's Ambition Online have prepared seven different character classes (including samurai and magician). When you start playing, you should decide on one of them. The player can of course also determine the appearance of their character, preferred character traits or belonging to one of the existing factions. The game world prepared by the authors is well-developed (as for the MMOcRPG game) and consists of 21 exceptionally large provinces, which can be freely explored during the game. The individual maps differ significantly from each other. Players visit, among others, huge fortresses, forests or glades, where in the past huge battles with the participation of thousands of troops took place.
Unlike many other MMOcRPG games, which focus the player's attention primarily on the development of their character, Nobunaga's Ambition Online also introduces a rather important strategic element to the game. In practice, it looks like almost all the activities (fighting, negotiation processes, trade, etc.) carried out by the form of activities have a significant impact on the appearance of the whole world. The decisions taken have an impact on the province currently being studied in economic, military and even political terms. In the latter case it is important to form alliances with other players or organizations, as well as to join various organizations. The guilds themselves, of course, as new players join, grow in strength. More complex factions can (as a whole) benefit from completely new skills. These skilles include both battle elements and, for example, purely political elements. Battles fought between players or whole guilds are quite spectacular and complicated at the same time. In order to win, the individual characters must coordinate their actions, and it is no less important that the troops should be composed of people with different, complementary professions.
The game's visual setting resembles other console MMOcRPG-i with particular emphasis on Phantasy Star Online. Noteworthy are player-controlled characters. The objects are clearly visible so that each person looks completely different.
