No Longer Home is a narrative point-and-click adventure game about the last moments of two roommates together. The game was developed by independent studio Humble Grove, while it was published by Fellow Traveller. The development of this game was possible, among others, thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.
Plot
The main characters of No Longer Home are Bo and Ao. As students, the protagonists have been renting a flat together in London for the past year. After graduating from university, they each have to go their separate ways. Ao's visa has run out, so he has to return to his native Japan, while Bo remains in England, where he will try to find a job and somehow start a new life. Although their world doesn't seem too different from ours, there's one more resident in their flat, a moose-like creature with many eyes called Lu...
It is worth adding that the game received a free prequel entitled Friary Road. After a barbecue, Bo and Ao look at the stars together and talk about their future and identity.
Mechanics
In No Longer Home the action was shown in isometric view. During the game we accompany the main characters in their everyday life. Bo and Ao party and barbecue with friends, play video games, and have personal conversations late into the night. In addition, we explore their flat and take a close look at the items it contains, learning about their history. As time goes by, we learn more and more about the characters, which helps us understand their emotions on the eve of moving out of their flat.
Technical aspects
No Longer Home has colourful graphics in a detailed, cartoon style.
Trivia
The idea for No Longer Home was born when the game's creators faced a problem similar to the one faced by the main characters of this game. Separated after studies, the developers decided to keep in touch and create a video game together.
