Nine Parchments

Nine Parchments for PC, SWITCH and etc. is a fantasy action game. It was developed by Frozenbyte, the creators of Shawden and Trine and the Shadowgrounds series.

The Plot

Nine Parchments for PC, SWITCH and etc. takes place in a magical fantasy land that brings to mind the setting of Trine games. The game tells the story of a group of heroes who wants to become powerful mages. However, they are all really lazy and do not want to spend years on studying magic at the Astral Academy. After two years as students, they drop off from school and decide to go on a journey to find the titular nine parchments. According to legends, they grant great powers to those who own them.

The game is filled with dark sense of humor. As we play, our heroes regularly learn powerful and dangerous spells. Our heroes do not care that much about safety so their actions tend to have terrible consequences for third parties.

Mechanics

Despite the fantasy setting, Nine Parchments for PC, SWITCH and etc. is more of a shooter game when it comes to mechanics. We observe the game from an isometric point of view. Gameplay focuses on eliminating hordes of enemies with spells. The game has a complex magic system based on five elements: fire, ice, electricity, life, and death. It allows us to combine simple spells in order to create more powerful ones. The system was designed to reward players for their creativity.

Nine Parchments was created as a cooperative game for up to four players where the mechanics of magic favor cooperation between the players. Character progression system and the procedurally generated stats and abilities of monsters diversify the game.
