Nicolas Eymerich The Inquisitor: Book II – The Village for PC is the second episode of a conventional adventure game based on the works of an Italian writer Valerio Evangelisti. Similar to the first installment, the game was developed by a small studio Ticon Blu and published by a French company Microids that specializes in this genre.
Plot
Again, the player takes on the role of Nicolas Eymerich – a Spanish inquisitor who is totally devoted to the cause of the Church and the Dominican Order he is part of. In the second episode, the protagonist is asked to investigate the alleged manifestations of heresy in a small village known as Calcares. It soon turns out that the place is overrun with the most dangerous demons Eymerich has ever encountered. In order to get the village out of the devil's hands, the inquisitor will have to first discover dark secrets that have remained concealed by the local community.
Mechanics
Mechanics-wise, Book II – The Village for PC is based on the gameplay formula developed as part of the first installment. As a result, the game is a conventional point-and-click adventure experience devoid of any arcade elements. The core of the game is made up of exploring, talking to NPCs, collecting items and solving subsequent puzzles. The game brings 31 completely new locations, where one will have to solve 25 different puzzles.
Technical aspects
Nicolas Eymerich The Inquisitor: Book II – The Village for PC does not differ from the original game in terms of the technology. The first installment came out almost a year earlier, but in certain, gameplay-related aspects, it was ahead of the second episode. However, this second installment's advantages are constituted by an interesting story and decent visuals.
