NHL Legacy Edition for PlayStation 3 is another installment in the famous sports games series created by Electronic Arts. The production was released at the same time as NHL 16 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. As usual, it is fully based on the NHL license, thanks to which one assumes control over virtual players that have their counterparts in real life.

The production is a sort of a crown jewel of the development work for past-gen platforms, and offers the most popular single- and multiplayer modes as well as other gameplay elements from the last 9 years, therefore players may enjoy the Be a Pro, EA SPORTS Hockey League, Online Team Play, NHL 94 Anniversary Mode, and Be a GM modes.

The gameplay mostly involves controlling one's favorite team, managing it, setting tactics prior to matches, and adjusting them throughout matches. The mechanics are based primarily on NHL 15. Apart from that, the game offers updated line-ups. In total, the players get eight leagues: the NHL, AHL, CHL, Liiga, SHL, DEL, Extraliga ledniho hokeje, and the National League.
