A hybrid of an action RPG and a farming life simulation, maintained in a horror convention. Neverway has us playing as Fiona - an immortal herald of the dead god. We work on the farm, develop relationships, take part in battles and search for the titular nightmarish land.
Neverway is a combination of an action RPG and a life simulation, maintained in the horror style. The game was developed by the independent studio Coldblood and is their debut project.
Gameplay
In Neverway we watch events from a bird's eye view. The game takes place at three times of the day - morning, noon and evening. It's up to us how the main character spends each of them.
Our house is a farm, the management of which is one of the main elements of the gameplay. Our time here is occupied with working on the farm, preparing meals, creating items, and decorating rooms.
Our protagonist can also explore the area, fish, and face opponents, with whom we engage in quick skirmishes. The main character uses self-made items on the battlefield, as well as skills and enhancements unlocked through relationships with other characters.
Spending time with others is the third activity we can devote ourselves to. Each of the accompanying characters has been equipped with a unique personality, history, and routine actions, and by nurturing relationships with them, we unlock various bonuses.
Story
The main character of Neverway is Fiona, who quit her job and offered her services to a dead god, becoming his immortal herald. At the same time, the protagonist is engaged in the search for the titular, nightmarish reality.
Graphics and music
The two-dimensional graphics of Neverway were created using pixel art technique. The game is set to the accompaniment of a soundtrack by Disasterpiece.
