Nether Adventure is an action game enriched by MMO elements, developed by an independent studio, Phosphor Games.
The creators the post-apocalyptic atmosphere. Action is set a decade after a mysterious cataclysm put an end to the human civilization. A handful of survivors explore the ruins of the old world, searching for remnants of supplies, andy fighting with bandits and monsters possessing supernatural powers. The game takes place in the ruins of the city modeled on the West Loop district in Chicago, which means dense buildings and numerous high-rise buildings, including massive skyscrapers.
Such location enforces frequent and close interactions with other players. A situation in which life a sniper hidden two kilometers away kills us never happens, because at such a distance the target is obstructed by different structures. At the same time, it is also easier to sneak unnoticed. The title Nether are a race of mutant monsters, which control most of the planet's surface. The beasts hunt mainly on the basis of hearing and after the detection of a potential victim, they become very aggressive. To make matters worse, the monsters possess the ability to teleport instantly. This makes even one opponent a big challenge.
Up to 64 players can play on a map at the same time. This ensures an appropriate balance between interesting interactions with other people, and the important sense of loneliness, required in survival games. Voice chat facilitates communication with other players. Well-organized groups can occupy buildings and repurpose them to secure fortresses.
Nether provides an option to set up dedicated servers. Their administrators can enable the hardcore mode in which death is final, and forces the players to start from scratch. For the lovers of less extreme experiences, there are also server where after the death of the characters results in loss of items only, while retaining the skills and experience points.
