Neighborhorde is a twin-stick shooter developed by an indie studio called Fermenter Games that also created other minimalistic games, e.g. Spingun and David which focuses on physics. The game is available on various platforms, such as PC, PS4 and XONE. This time the developers were inspired by cartoons from 1990's, e.g. Ed, Edd & Eddy or Calvin and Hobbes.

Plot

Even though the story in Neighborhorde plays a secondary role, the developers added a lot of specific humor to it. During the game we play as anthropomorphic animals. Their mothers aren't happy with the fact that their children spend too much time on video games. The mothers send their children outside but they don't know that, behind the doors, there are such dangers as evil robots, sorcerers, zombie and even dragons that got here by a recently opened portal. The children have to defeat them before dusk because when that happens, they will have to go back home for their bedtime story.
