Need for Russia 4: White Nights is the fourth part of a series of arcade racing games with cars from across the eastern border in leading roles. Once again, players have the opportunity to sit behind the wheel of Soviet products and Russian automotive thought. The title was produced by Red Dot Games development studio in Rzeszow on behalf of Play-publishing company.
After three editions of the Need for Russia series, which the K-Tech Development team worked on, the publisher of the series Play-publishing decided to change the developer. The preparation of the next game was entrusted to the Red Dot Games studio, which previously created, among other things, a title well received by the players - LowRider Extreme.
The new developer has moved away from the established series schemas. As the title suggests, Need for Russia 4: White Nights takes place only after dark, when the streets of the Russian capital become a place of illegal car races. The player takes on the role of one of the participating drivers.
The game is about duels with rivals controlled by artificial intelligence. The stake is usually money, although sometimes the winner takes the defeated vehicle. The funds earned during races can be used by the player to make modifications to his car or to buy another one.
There are 14 car models available in the game. Most of them are based on classics of Soviet and Russian motorization (ZAZ 968M Zaporozec, UAZ 469, GAZ 24 Volga, GAZ 13 Tchaika and others). New to the series are two foreign cars that look like Chevrolet Camaro and Hyundai Coupe. Individual cars differ not only in appearance but also in performance and steering, which is very important for the course of races. The creators also took care of the possibility of tuning the vehicles. Although the modification options are not as extensive as in LowRider Extreme, they allow for example to reduce the ground clearance or mount other rims.
The change of the developer translated into a higher quality of the product. Need for Russia 4: White Nights uses a proven LowRider Extreme engine. This allowed us to significantly improve the graphics, which can be seen especially on carefully reproduced models of vehicles. The night racing environment has also become more detailed, although it still falls short of the standards set by leading car game brands.
