Necrosmith 2 PC

Necrosmith 2 is an indie strategy with elements of such genres as tower defense, bullet hell and roguelite. This 2D production is a sequel of the game with the same title, originally released in 2022. Both works are the responsibility of Alawar Premium studio.

Plot

In Necrosmith 2, we play the role of a necromancer whose task is to build a powerful army of the undead. For this purpose, he collects remnants of magical creatures, then uses them to create unusual monstrosities during numerous experiments.

Mechanics

We are transported to a fantasy world, choose one of the available biomes and visit procedurally generated levels. The most important location on each map is the Black Tower - the headquarters of the main character, the loss of which means defeat. We can expand both its interior and the area around it, gaining access to new spells and resources.

The key mechanic in Necrosmith 2 is bringing creatures back to life and they form the core of our army. For this purpose, we use individual body elements (head, body, legs and arms) to create creatures characteristic of the fantasy genre. They include creatures like skeletons, trolls or fairies. We are also allowed to combine individual parts in any way, giving our wards an unusual appearance and unique skills. A novelty in the sequel are titans. They're special, powerful units that will not only stand in our way, but also join the necromancer's army.

The subordinates serve to defend the tower, conduct attacks or explore the world, and their strength can increase during the night. We can equip soldiers and scouts with body parts that will perform best in battle or when overcoming high mountains, rivers, or lava lakes. With their help, we also acquire magical artifacts that make the game easier.

Technical aspects

Like the first installment of the series, in Necrosmith 2 we observe the action in an isometric view, and the visuals were created using the pixel art technique. The game is powered by the Unity engine.
