NCAA March Madness 2003 is another part of the EA Sports series, which focuses on faithful representation of academic basketball competitions. This title makes full use of the National Collegiate Athletic Association license. This allows us to take control of one of the 162 teams actually playing divided into 15 conferences.
For the first time in the history of this series, Dynasty mode was introduced. We manage the team by making transfers, looking for a new fry and establishing a pre-match strategy. Then we try to beat our rivals on the court until we win the highest league trophy. Most of the options for modifying the composition and execution of transactions are shown only in text form. There is also a Season mode and a single match, where you can try your hand at competing with a friend.
In terms of player control, the 2003 edition received the well-known NBA Live 2003 Freestyle Control system. Thanks to it we can more intuitively perform some movements and plays with the right analog knob.
The visual layer of NCAA March Madness 2003 does not differ much from the NBA Live series, as it is based on the same graphics engine. This means that we watch the halls and realistic animations of the players in some detail. Due to the restrictions imposed by NCAA, the appearance of basketball players is not modelled on well-known players in the academic league. Brad Nessler and Dick Vitale played the role of commentators.
