NCAA March Madness 07
Sports game addressed to enthusiasts of academic basketball games licensed by the NCAA association. Edition with number 07 introduces minor changes in the mechanics of the game and does not differ from the previous version of the series signed with EA Sports logo.
developer: EA Sports publisher: Electronic Arts Inc.
NCAA March Madness 07, released on PS2 and X360, is the next installment of a long-term series of sports games produced under the EA Sports banner. This title is aimed at basketball enthusiasts, but unlike the NBA Live series, it focuses on the academic league. In this respect, the creators have taken a more entertaining approach and the spontaneous reactions of supporters play an important role in the matches. Compared to last year's edition, relatively few changes have been introduced in it, and these mainly concern the update of line-ups and the improvement of artificial intelligence of players.
Mechanics
The heart of the game is still Dynasty mode. Thanks to it we take control over one of the licensed NCAA teams or we can prepare our own and lead it for many seasons, winning the most important trophies and trying to meet the expectations of the fans. For this purpose, we fulfill the tasks in the form of e.g. hosting a match and winning. Between matches, we make transfers as well as face unexpected penalties for the antics of young players, injuries or early school leaving. We also pay attention to promising recruits.
The course of the match itself resembles, to a large extent, the NBA Live series, but the audience plays a greater role. We charge a special bar by performing spectacular games or gaining many points in a row. When it fills up, we can activate it to see an animation of the basketball player encouraging the audience to cheer even more, which temporarily increases the effectiveness of the players.
Technical aspects
The graphics in NCAA March Madness 07 on PlayStation 2 do not differ much from last year's edition of the series. The Xbox 360 version looks visibly better.
