The next installment of a series of sports games addressed to American football enthusiasts at an academic level. Compared to last year's edition, among other things, a new mode was added, which allows you to recreate the famous historical meetings. The artificial intelligence of the players and their animation have also been improved.

Technical aspects

NCAA Football 2004, released on PS2, XBOX and GCN, is an extension of last year's edition. We are still dealing with American football games licensed by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. As a result, all the squads available in the game have been updated. This year's edition has been more elaborate: a few weaker elements have been eliminated and the rest have been improved.

Mechanics

In terms of gameplay, NCAA Football 2004 made further improvements to the defensive game. This solved some of the problems with inefficient DB. Now, they can throw the ball out of the hands of attacking players more often. The game also has new tricks allowing us to bypass rivals in an effective way.

Game modes

The biggest novelty in the 2004 edition is College Classics mode. Here, we can take part in the most famous historical matches, which have long been remembered by fans. The creators of the game accurately recreated the line-ups from a given period and set specific goals to be achieved by the players. They do not always consist of a faithful recreation of events from the past - sometimes, our task is to change the course of history. In return for overcoming the challenge, we unlock access to the teams that played in that match.

dynasty is still the core mode. It allows you to lead your team (or a team selected from the available ones) for several seasons. Between matches, we take care of proper strategy, players' condition and updating coach contracts. After completing all the meetings scheduled in the calendar, we start the recruitment process of new candidates.

The developers paid great attention to various statistics. This gives us a continuous overview of our progress. In addition to last year's trophy room, a special Greatest Games feature has been added. It gathers a top list of our most spectacular matches.

Technical aspects

The graphics changes include mainly new animations of character movements, including those after a touchdown. However, you should be careful, as some of them may result in obtaining a penalty for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
