The next installment of a sport game from EA Sports stables addressed to fans of academic American football matches. In the edition marked with the number 06 a new mode was introduced, which allows you to create your own player and lead his career path. There were also smaller improvements related to team management or graphic design.
NCAA Football 06, released on PS2 and XBOX, is a sports game that focuses on academic football competitions licensed by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Electronic Arts also has another series dedicated to this sport - Madden NFL.
Mechanics
NCAA Football 06 has an exceptionally large number of improvements. The most important of these is the addition of a new fun mode, in which we play as our player. The creators also decided to increase the pace by, among other things, accelerating the development of the players and making them more agile on the pitch. In addition, a system of "influential" players has been introduced to play a key role in meetings.
Game modes
The new game mode is called Race for the Heisman. We start by defying the appearance of our avatar, and then we take part in the training camp. The presented effectiveness depends on the initial features such as speed, ability to catch balls, etc. We improve them by participating in matches. After the training, we receive proposals from several universities. However, if they don't suit us, we can always report to our favorite. After this introduction, we immediately land in the main line-up and try to contribute to winning the Heisman trophy. During the breaks between meetings, we go to our own apartment, where we respond to e-mails from fans, or rest.
Dynasty remains the main single-player mode. We manage a selected team for several seasons, developing a strategy and recruiting new players. We try to fulfill the tasks assigned to us and climb to the very top of the academic games. NCAA Football 06 has an option of recruiting players throughout the season, and not only after the end of the season.
The system of "influential players" has a significant impact on the course of meetings. The leading player in a given match has a white circle which means that due to his great form there is a great chance to play effectively. Enemies are also aware of the role of that player, so they will put pressure on him when he tries to score a point, or they will try to bypass him if he is a defender.
Technical aspects
As for the online mode, both players can now set the duration of a match. Thanks to better optimization, there are also less frequent decreases in performance. In terms of the visuals, the creators focused on developing the animation of kicking out the ball from the hands of the opponents. The developers also made a few minor improvements.
