NBA 2K18

NBA 2K18 for PC, PS4 and etc. is a yet another installment in the popular basketball video game series. Similarly to the previous NBA 2K installments, the game has been developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Games. Among other platforms, NBA 2K18 is available on PC, PS4 and etc..

Mechanics

In comparison to the previous installments, NBA 2K18 does not introduce many changes to the gameplay mechanics. Once again, players get at their disposal an elaborate basketball simulator, in which the developers have implemented real NBA teams. Apart from the teams currently active in the league (plus the official USA and Australia national teams), the game delivers iconic teams from the past – not only those one might remember from the previous installments of the NBA 2K series, but also such teams as the 1985-1986 Boston Celtics, the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls, the 1998-1999 New York Knicks, and the 2007-2008 Denver Nuggets.

Interestingly enough, the facial recognition system introduced in NBA 2K15 has been significantly improved and implemented in the game described herein – the aforementioned improvements include mitigating the risk of an error, which resulted in generating 'facial abominations' instead of proper players’ faces.

Game modes

The PC, PS4 and etc. release of NBA 2K18 allows one to play alone or in a company of other players via online or local multiplayer mode. The game features several game modes – the most important one being MyCareer, in which one gets to create his own basketball player follow his career of an NBA professional player. Moreover, this installment brings back such modes as MyGM and MyLeague, which allow a player not only to participate in matches but also to become a manager of a chosen team. Interestingly enough, the former option now features more cutscenes. To top it all, in NBA 2K18 there is also the MyTeam mode, in which one gets to assemble his dream team by collecting special cards – each card represents a particular NBA player.

Technical aspects

The PC, PS4 and etc. release of NBA 2K28 delivers high-quality 3D visuals, even though they do not differ much from the ones featured in the previous installment. The character models are very detailed, and the matches are accompanied by commentaries of i.a. Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett – all this makes the whole experience seem as a live transmission of a true NBA match.
