Plot

Nantucket is a continuation of one of the greatest novels of all time, Moby Dick, written by Herman Melville. The action takes place a few years after the book’s ending, and tells more about Ishmael, the only survivor from the whaler Pequod.

The authors offer an epic plot that gives us a chance to learn the whole truth about Moby Dick and to fight the while whale curse under which captain Ahab is.

Mechanics

Nantucket published on PC is a hybrid of a strategy and a role-playing title. You take control of Ishmael who is the ship’s captain. During gameplay, you sail on seas and oceans, visit cities, transport goods, embark on quests, and, most importantly, hunt whales.

The player needs to gather a crew, command them, and assign duties. Taking a good care of the ship and buying upgrades is also vital. Generally, gameplay revolves around money. Coin earned through hunting can be spent on ship upgrades and new crewmembers, which gives access to more dangerous quests.

The turn-based combat system enables the player to hunt whales and fight sea battles against e.g. pirates. At the same time, Ishmael is almost an RPG character – he has a number of statistics that can be upgraded with experience points. The production also introduces a wide range of skills to learn.

Often, you will have to make tough decisions. The game features thousands of events coming up depending on your actions and choices.
