Naheulbeuk's Dungeon Master

Naheulbeuk's Dungeon Master is a strategy game, in which we manage the titular dungeon. It was developed by Artefacts Studio, known for The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos set in the same universe.

Plot

Naheulbeuk's Dungeon Master is set in a fantasy world known from the Le Donjon de Naheulbeuk audiobooks. The series' popularity got it adapted into comic books, board games and the aforementioned video game by Artefacts Studio.

We play as Reivax, the newly appointed master of Naheulbeuk. The evil mage Zangdar has tasked him with creating a prosperous dungeon - a mighty tower with residential and defensive functions. He must find potential residents and make sure the dungeon can hold its ground against numerous adventurers.

Mechanics

Naheulbeuk's Dungeon Master makes use of the top-down perspective. The player must manage all aspects of the dungeon. Our primary duty is to expand the tower and decorate its interior. This attracts sponsors and workers, letting us earn money, acquire resources and produce goods for trade.

Our subordinates all have unique traits and skills. They also have expectations and needs, so we must constantly develop our dungeon and upgrade it as to not trigger a rebellion (which we can suppress in any way we'd like). If our tower develops smoothly, our minions will be happier and therefore more productive.

Earned fame means more than just reputation and money. Once adventurers hear of our dungeon, they'll start raiding it, desiring the loot hidden within. To defend ourselves, we need to deploy soldiers and install traps. We'll also have competition - offense is the best defense, so we can send our forces to raid opposing dungeons.

The player must be careful. There are many different factions in the game's world, and if we offend them too much, we can end up triggering swift and brutal retribution.

Technical aspects

Naheulbeuk's Dungeon Master retains the appealing, cartoonish artstyle of The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos.
