MythForce

MythForce is a first-person action game with roguelike elements. It was developed by Beamdog, known for Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear and Axis & Allies 1942 Online.

Plot

The game is set in a magical fantasy land inspired by 1980s American cartoons. The playable characters are adventurers, exploring dungeons full of monsters and traps.

Mechanics

MythForce is a first-person action game, most of which we'll spend in dangerous dungeons. Combat is highly arcade-like, having us wield melee weapons, bows and magic alike.

There are four characters to choose from, all with unique abilities - Victoria the knight, Rico the rogue, Maggie the mage and Hawkins the hunter.

The game is a roguelite. Dungeons are randomly generated, feature different challenges on each run, while each death forces us to start over. In contrast to pure roguelikes, MythForce has us retain some progress when we die. We can also unlock permanent upgrades and perks to use in future runs.

Game modes

The game supports singleplayer and co-op.

Technical aspects

MythForce's unusual artstyle is based on 1980s American cartoons, such as He-Man.
