A free logic-platforming game, created with online co-op in mind and inspired by movies made in stop-motion animation technique. In Myrmidon we play primarily as a puppet and explore locations full of challenges. We can also control the animator responsible for the elements of scenography and clear the way for the other protagonist.

Myrmidon is a cooperative platform-puzzle game, inspired by films made in stop-motion animation technique. The game was developed by the independent French team Studio Popote and represents their debut project. The releases of the game was handled by the Rubika school from Valenciennes in France, offering master's courses in fields related to video games, animation, and design. The game is available for free.

Story

Myrmidon tells the story of an animator and his new puppet, whose bond becomes stronger as they progress. While the puppet explores the sets of stop-motion animation workshops, the overseeing animator controls the elements of the surrounding scenery.

Gameplay

In Myrmidon the gameplay varies depending on who we embody.

Puppet

Controlling the puppet, we watch the action from various angles (from behind its back or from the side). We travel through locations, jumping on platforms and avoiding terrain obstacles. Over time, the level of difficulty of the challenges requiring dexterity and reflexes that are set before us increases.

Animator

In the role of the event animator, we watch it through their eyes (FPP). The game allows us to control individual elements of the scenery, step by step clearing the way for the puppet. As progress is made, the levels take the form of increasingly complex puzzles, the solving of which requires increasing perceptiveness from us.

Co-op

Myrmidon is a game designed exclusively for online cooperation. It does not have a voice chat implemented, and since communication with the other player is one of the keys to success here, it is necessary to use external solutions.
