MyDream is another independent sandbox game inspired by the popularity of Minecraft. Based on ideas from that game, and on the opinions of the community, the developers decided to create a game that provides even more freedom in exploration and crafting and features quest and character development systems typical for MMORPG games.
Plot
MyDream starts when the protagonist wakes up in an ostensibly friendly, but completely unknown world. The protagonist is in front of a giant building, similar to a fort and he or she sees plates that encourage to exploration and crafting. The plates also warn about traps.
Mechanics
In MyDream, by completing simple instructions, the players learn gameplay mechanics, improve basic skills and are getting deeper and deeper into a new, exciting adventure. As the title of the game suggests, the world players visit can be as they dream it – the only limitation is the players’ own creativity.
MyDream is a typical sandbox game focused on exploration and freedom to shape the three-dimensional world. This world is filled with various riddles, quests, and challenges. The players can freely decide how they will use the possibilities provided by the programmers. The players can focus on shaping the landscape and creating increasingly complex buildings, or they can explore, look for hidden treasures, hunt and fight encountered enemies. The game features a character development system typical for MMORPGs. As the protagonist progress through the game, he or she gains new skills that can be used to craft useful items.
What distinguishes MyDream from other similar games is much greater effort put into RPG traits. The experience points gathered during the game and development of character depends mostly on completing quests: from simple ones like having to travel a specific distance or dig through enough terrain, to more complex ones, like treasure hunting. What’s interesting, the game’s world changes dynamically and new quests are added by the developers and by the community. The players can increase their reputation by completing and giving quests, by being creative, and by cooperating with other players.
Technical aspects
The graphics of MyDream are of high quality when compared to many other Minecraft clones. The game is powered by a proprietary engine. It uses voxel technology to generate the three-dimensional landscape. The developers made sure that the world in their game is very varied. The game features various biomes – forest and grass ones, snow and ice ones and even ones with volcanic lava.
