My Secret World is a representative of a more and more popular genre of virtual diaries. A lot of similar titles has been released on DS console, e.g. Diary Girl by Konami. The target audience of this game are girls aged 10-12. It is noteworthy that along with a dozen or so other titles My Secret World belongs to the Imagine game series released by Ubisoft company.
The game in description combines three functions. First of all, My Secret World is a virtual diary, where you can write down and keep your thoughts using the handheld’s touchscreen. Another function is a complex organizer with an in-built calendar. Using this you can set reminders for important events. The last feature of My Secret World is a virtual scrapbook.
In the meantime, the player can kick back playing a dozen or so mini-games. These are both arcade games, puzzles and simple quizzes. A big attraction is customization of things like player’s avatar, or pages of your virtual diary.
Much emphasis was put on interactions with other players, using wireless connection between consoles. Players can chat, send mails, solve quizzes together to get to know each other, or find their common interests. It is noteworthy that you can specifically adjust sharing options and set a password to your diary, so no one else could read it unless you want them to.
Visually, My Secret World presents a level similar to other games of the genre. An interesting thing is that on rotating the console by 90 degrees its two screens become diary pages.
