A hilarious real-time strategy game created as an effect of the cooperation between Zillion Whales (the publisher) and Creat Studios - an experienced, American-Russian team. The player takes on the role of a mushroom faction leader and commands their warriors in battle. The mechanics were inspired by the classic real-time strategies.

Mushroom Wars for PC, AND and etc. is a hilarious real-time strategy game created by Creat Studios - an experienced, American-Russian team popular for many simplistic games developed for both PCs and consoles. Zillion Whales took on the role of the publisher.

Mechanics

The player assumes the role of a mushroom faction leader and commands their warriors when battling the opposition. The mechanics were inspired by classic RTS games – the player extends their base, builds different defensive and offensive structures, as well as produces units for the most part. When the player manages to take over enemy's buildings, new mushroom warriors can be created there as well. Significantly however, the creators were not particularly interested in extending tactical aspects of the game, focusing instead on quick skirmishes which last several minutes.

Game modes

Mushroom Wars for PC, AND and etc. offers a single-player experience, but the multiplayer component was introduced in post-release updates. The story campaign comprised of 32 missions is the main game mode here. During the campaign, the player visits clearings, forests, mountains or the land of mushrooms, when fighting for control over different, strategically important spots. The Skirmish mode complements the campaign - the player can fight either against the AI or living opponents in this mode. Subsequent skirmishes introduce more and more enemies, and the player's goal is to annihilate them literally. The player chooses from four difficulty levels available. What makes the competition easier is the fact that the game uses special algorithms which evaluate the player's performance and affect the AI-controlled opponents' behaviours accordingly.

Technical aspects

Mushroom Wars for PC, AND and etc. offers simplistic, though incredibly colorful visuals typical for mobile games. Both the battlefields and units are two-dimensional here, but when it comes to the art style, they are filled with hilarity. An opportunity to listen to the player's own music when playing the game is a good addition. Also, the player can publish their gameplay videos on YouTube directly from the game.
