Mundaun

Mundaun is a survival horror adventure game. The game was developed by the independent Hidden Fields studio and is characterized by monochrome, hand-drawn graphics.

Plot

The action of Mundaun takes place in the alpine valley. In the game we play the role of a hero who arrives there for the first time since childhood to solve the mystery of death in his grandfather's fire. On the spot, the protagonist discovers that Mundaun is being haunted by demonic forces, which makes the expedition to the top of the mountain, where he expects to find answers to the questions that afflict him, a real struggle for survival.

Mechanics

In Mundaun the action was shown from the first person perspective (FPP). During the game, we find ourselves in various locations, including gloomy interiors, picturesque meadows and snow-covered playing; we walk, drive a car or sledge. During the exploration we deal with solving ingenious puzzles and searching for useful objects, as well as conducting conversations with the inhabitants of Mundaun. In this way we gradually come closer to solving the mystery of the hero's grandfather's death.

However, we have to be on our guard at every step, as the dark entities haunting Mundaun are a threat to the protagonist. Experiencing their presence, the hero gradually falls into more and more fear, which is reflected in the speed of his movements (the bigger it is, the slower the protagonist moves).

Technical aspects

Mundaun has an original graphic design maintained in monochromatic colours. The graphics is based on textures prepared by hand with a pencil.
