Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault Description
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is the sequel to 2018's roguelike action RPG. The game was developed by the authors of the first part of the series, namely the Digital Sun team. Its release was handled by the Polish 11 bit studios.
Story
The action of Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault takes place after the events depicted in the previous game. The main character, a shopkeeper named Will, lost access to his homeland. He then arrived in a remote village called Tresna.
One day, the protagonist meets a businessman who offers him help in finding his way home, in exchange for retrieving treasures from three dimensions. Without thinking too long, Will agrees to this proposal. In this way, his next adventure begins.
Gameplay
In Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault we see the action from a bird's eye view. Similar to what happened in the first installment of the series, the gameplay here has been divided into two main segments.
Dungeon expeditions
Exploring underground areas and dungeons involves having to face hordes of enemies and avoid numerous traps and obstacles. We engage in dynamic skirmishes with enemies who stand in our way, using melee weapons (from swords to... an old broom) and relics placed in the backpack, providing Will with various effects.
Running a store and village development
After safely returning to Tresna, we can begin selling the collected items. If we want to earn as much as possible, it's worth bargaining with customers. In this way, we earn money that we can spend on expanding our store and various decorations. However, that's not all, as the game also allows us to invest in the businesses of friendly shopkeepers.
Helping other traders in developing their business pays off, as in this way we gain access to better equipment (including weapons and armor), which increases our combat potential. All of this makes both Will and Tresna village develop over time. More people can arrive, ready to leave their money and goods.
Graphics and music
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault stands out from the first part of the series thanks to its much more modern graphics, kept in a cartoon style. During the game, we are accompanied by music by Chris Larkin (composer of the soundtrack for Hollow Knight among other projects).
