Plot
Hell has froze. The last fragment of the burning dimension resists the invasion of heavenly troops, but the hope is... a hellish train traversing the land.
Mechanics
Monster Train takes place in real time. We're going through hell on board the train (we're watching the map from above, from the top-down perspective). We have the ability to choose the route, and the decisions we make affect the possibilities we gain access to. In the course of the game, we fight with our enemies, using the cards we have. We are gradually developing our deck, increasing the range of options available.
There are five different monster clans in the game. We have the ability to choose two - one main and one with supporting role - and over time we are gradually increasing their capabilities (each has ten levels to unlock). We also have a powerful champion, whose abilities develop as we progress. The game also offers over two hundred different cards representing units, actions and objects, each of which can be doubled.
The game is based on a system of random events (the list includes more than twenty items), so each game looks a little different. Players also have as many as twenty-five difficulty levels at their disposal - everyone should find a challenge to suit their expectations.
Game modes
We can play Monster Train alone or with others. The game offers a single player mode, as well as an eight-player, online multiplayer mode called Hell Rush, which focuses on PvP gameplay.
Technical aspects
Monster Train graphics present quite a solid level - it is two-dimensional, based mainly on hand drawn characters, cards and locations. Graphics are not particularly original, but you cannot deny them their own atmosphere. The game is also accompanied by spectacular lighting effects (they are displayed during various attacks and games).
