Monster Hunter 2 is a powerful RPG game based on capturing title monsters and increasing your skills. However, the main emphasis was placed on gameplay via the Internet, which distinguishes it from the multitude of other, similar positions. Monster Hunter 2, as well as the first part and a specific mission pack entitled Monster Hunter G, produced and released Capcom.
Monster Hunter 2 allows us to play the role of a monster hunter (whom we create from scratch before the start of the actual game) living in a fairy-tale land that looks like a land several hundred million years ago, devoid of such problems as globalization or urbanization. Wandering through fairy-tale locations, we kill powerful monsters reminiscent of prehistoric reptiles and magical creatures like dragons, thus gaining trophies that increase the skills of the directed character. Experience in combat allows us to make better use of what the people who live in the settlements we meet on the way give us. In them we also find smitheries where we create our own unique weapons and elements of armour (in their manufacture we use materials found or acquired during the fight).
The authors have prepared two gameplay options - online (using Network Adaptor) and offline. Thanks to the Internet, we are able to set up hunting guilds consisting of up to eight heroes, in which our friends will take on the role. Teamwork makes it possible to carry out joint attacks in combat, inaccessible to people who cannot afford to play online. The online option also opens up new missions and provides unknown monster types.
In relation to the first part, the main aim was to improve the graphic design. Numerous filters were used for this purpose, with a popular sweatshirt at the forefront, and the number of polygons per character, creature and environment was increased. In Monster Hunter 2 we also find dozens of new reptiles to be defeated, as well as completely new locations for exploration. Capcom also took advantage of the fact that PS2 can be combined with the Sony PSP portable console, on which the gently modified Monster Hunter 2 was released - this opens up many inaccessible add-ons (weapons, new cities and monsters).
