Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle for PC, PS4 and XONE is an action game belonging to the beat'em up genre. Developed by Bandai Namco, the game has its roots in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV series popular in the 1990s.

Plot

In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle for PC, PS4 and XONE, the players assume control over several teenagers chosen to confront the forces of evil represented by the ominous Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd. These sworn enemies of humanity want to destroy the entire planet and in order to achieve it, they send more and more dangerous monsters to the Earth. Fortunately however, the planet can count on its outstanding heros supported by the mysterious Zordon - a powerful being that exists beyond space and time.

Mechanics

In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle for PC, PS4 and XONE, the player is required to exterminate crowds of enemies. Four main characters are at the player's disposal here, and those differ in terms of both the weapons and abilities they make use of in combat. When fighting regular opponents, using advanced attacks based on different martial arts is the key to success, as well as engaging the enemies with melee weapons. The player can make use of both light and heavy weapons. The former are consequently faster in use, but the latter are more powerful. Particular attacks can be linked into spectacular combos. Alongside progression, the player gains access to more and more effective offensive capabilities, such as additional weaponry or new kinds of attacks.

Since the game was highly inspired by the most popular episodes of the TV series, the fans will easily recognize locations from TV screens, as well as adversaries and dialogues they are popular for. As it was the case in said series, each level ends here with a boss fight requiring the player to defeat gargantuan monsters. This is when the so-called Zords are called in for assistance. Those are huge mechs controlled by the main characters and patterned on prehistoric creatures, such as a mammoth, saber-toothed tiger or tyrannosaurus. If the Zords turn out not sufficiently powerful, the Megazord can be created as a combination of them. It is a gigantic machine of destruction capable of facing even the most dangerous threats.

Game modes

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle can be enjoyed individually or with others. The game offers a co-op mode for up to 4 players.

Technical aspects

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle for PC, PS4 and XONE comes with cartoonish 2D visuals referring to aesthetics popular in the 1990s. Music taken from the original TV series can cause feelings of nostalgia and particular dialogues were performed by actors and actresses that were also part of the TV series cast.
