Might of Merchants is a medieval strategy game developed by a single person - Hannes Breuer. He was inspired by such series as The Guild.

Plot

The game is set in a medieval kingdom. Its protagonist is a small-time merchant desiring to become wealthy and successful. To achieve his goal, he must prove he can meet the market's needs.

Mechanics

The game is a cross between an economic sim and an RPG. Our main goal is to manage our capital and adapt to the constantly changing market trends. These are influenced both by foreseen (such as festivals) and unforeseen events (such as natural disasters or wars).

There are several ways to grow richer. In addition to trading goods or managing businesses, we can also acquire resources, process them and sell them for profit.

As our wealth grows, so do our business opportunities. We can start expanding our infrastructure, creating new buildings, warehouses, develop production and supply chains. We can also actively participate in city politics.

Our business gradually expands as the game progresses, thus it's worthwhile to make our buildings more appealing and hire more workers. This doesn't mean our company's indestructible, as various external factors can suddenly slow down production. We must prepare for various troubles, such as sudden fires, burglaries or illnesses.

Technical aspects

Might of Merchants features top-down 2D visuals. The color palette is limited, consisting of several subdued shades of a specific color. Said color gradually changes alongside the time of day.
