Microtopia
Release Date: February 18, 2025
Steam
A real-time strategy game about developing a robotic ant colony, similar to Factorio. Our main goals include optimizing and automating supply chains, relying on pheromone paths and logic gates. We discover new biomes and interact with new species as we progress in the game.
Microtopia is the debut project for the Cordyceps Collective studio. It is a real-time strategy game in which we manage a mechanical anthill. Due to the complexity of the systems and the multitude of objects, the game is in some ways similar to Factorio.
Gameplay
The construction of a colony begins with the landing of the queen and the gathering of raw materials with the help of workers. In order to accelerate and automate their work, we use pheromone paths and logic gates. Our ants advance to various classes, dealing with mining, cutting plants, gathering or transportation. Some individuals may act as inventors and have the ability to fly.
The aim of Microtopia is the development of the anthill, which requires not only unlocking functions from the technology tree, but above all reproduction. We will need a brooder and a steady supply of food for the queen, production buildings, and eventually, sending the young monarchs on mating flights to new biomes. There, besides many electronic waste, we discover new plants and methods of using resources. There is also no lack of interaction with other species.
Graphics
In Microtopia we are dealing with a futuristic "neon" three-dimensional graphic design.
