Matter is an unfinished game project involving Gore Verbinski, a director known for such films as The Curse of the Black Pearl and Rango. The production was created in Blind Wink Games studio in cooperation with Microsoft Game Studios. The development works were cancelled in March 2013 without giving any specific reason.
The idea for the game was based on the conviction that people who had no previous contact with the Kinect controller may feel the discomfort associated with controlling by body movements. According to Verbinski, this barrier can be overcome by evoking appropriate emotions in players.
Matter is set in a fictional universe, which to some extent resembles the virtual world from the film Tron. The player's task would be to direct the movement of a small, metallic sphere, traversing a vast, dynamically changing labyrinth in search of similar explorers.
According to the assumptions of the development team, the game was to offer, first of all, unconventional logic puzzles, high quality three-dimensional visual setting, as well as full support for the technical capabilities of the Kinect controller.
