Championship Race is a racing game, produced by Steel Monkeys development studio and benefiting from the official license of the Master Rally organizers. Players can take part in off-road races in eight European and Asian countries, sitting behind the wheel of 20 carefully mapped off-road car models. The creators took care of, among others, realistic driving physics and multiplayer mode, in which up to 8 people can participate.
There's no shortage of rally games for the PS2, but Master Rallye is different. Rather than recreate the short stage format of the various Rally Championships, Master Rallye focuses on the altogether more gruelling discipline of the long-distance cross country driver. Based on the real-life event of the same name, Master Rallye takes you on a bumpy ride over the 5000km between Paris and Moscow. This mammoth undertaking will take you across every terrain type imaginable, from paved roads to icy mountain paths, and all points in-between.
As you'd expect, there's plenty of opportunity to cut corners en route to Red Square. The race consists of 30 stages, and each stage can be up to nine square kilometres in size. How you get from one side to the other is entirely up to you, but if you're planning on a spot of off-roading, be prepared to spend plenty of time reading maps!
ncredibly wide race environments allow you to find your own way
Each stage is tested by the three times winner of the Paris-Dakar rally, Rene Metge
Finely tuned opponent AI ensures other drivers are both skillful and unpredictable
