A spin-off of the legendary Mass Effect series, created by IronMonkey studio with mobile users in mind. In terms of the plot, the title is a kind of supplement to the third part of the series, and its action takes place parallel to the events described there. We play as Randall Ezmo, a former Cerberus agent who, having discovered the horrifying experiments conducted in the company's laboratories, decides to take revenge on his former employer.

Mass Effect Infiltrator, released on AND, iOS and WP, is a third-person science-fiction shooter which is a spin-off version of the popular series of RPG action games by BioWare studio. The game was developed by IronMonkey, the developers of mobile versions of The Sims 3, Mirror's Edge and Dead Space.

Plot

The action of the game takes place parallel to the events known from Mass Effect 3. We play the role of former Cerberus agent Randall Ezno, who after completing one of the missions returns to the research base of the organization at the Barn station. On the spot, he discovers that his mentor Inali has been subjected to horrific experiments and that Cerberus isn't really as friendly organization as it seems. Randall swears revenge on his former employers to reveal to the world all the crimes committed by Cerberus. To do this, however, he must safely escape from the base, facing hordes of guards, mutants and mechs.

Mechanics

The gameplay in Mass Effect Infiltrator' is based on fully-fledged versions of the series, although, in contrast to them, it is practically devoid of RPG elements and focuses primarily on combat. Traversing further segments of the Cerberus base, our protagonist eliminates enemies and bosses using an intuitive cover system. The player has at their disposal a number of biotic powers, melee attacks and four types of weapons, which can be upgraded up to level 5. In return for performing further tasks and finding evidence of Cerberus' crimes, we are rewarded with credits, which we can use to purchase new, useful skills such as sprint or slide. There is also a system of reputation known from the main series, which we build by making moral choices.

Other

The release of Mass Effect Infiltrator took place simultaneously with the release of the fully-fledged third installment of the series, and both games were connected to each other via an EA Origin account. As a result, players who complete the game before beating Mass Effect 3 can cause a significant increase in the "Galactic Readiness", influencing its completion and increasing their chances in the final fight against the Reapers.
