Martial Law is an adventure game which takes us to the Poland of the 1980s. The game was developed by an independent studio FIXER and was based on a project created during the PolskiGameDev.pl: Game Jam.
Plot
The action of Martial Law was set in a Polish town, in December 1981, just after the introduction of martial law. During the game we play as the protagonist, who due to his low social status was abandoned by his wife. The woman moved out from him together with her daughter, but the protagonist does not give up and tries at all costs to keep in touch with his beloved child.
Mechanics
Martial Law is a side-scroller. The game leads us through not very charming locations, among which we can find, for example, gray blocks of apartments, poor houses or empty stores. Wandering through them, we talk to encountered characters, not all of whom relate to us kindly. How the protagonist's fate will turn out depends on our actions and the choices we make.
Technical aspects
Graphics for Martial Law was created in pixel art technique. Despite its simplicity, the creators managed to render well the specific look of a gray Polish town from those years.
