Magicka is a conventional hack ānā slash based on Nordic mythology. It was developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and distributed via digital distribution channels (Steam, Xbox Live). The player assumes the role of a young mage and takes part in a crusade against an evil warlock who tries to conquer the peaceful universe of Magicka with a monster horde that he has summoned. The main storyline has been divided into 11 extensive missions.
One of the most important aspects of Magicka is the combat. Since you will play as a mage, you will fight mostly by using various spells and enchantments. You can gain access to new ones not only by learning but also thanks to various items which can be found while exploring the world. All of the above is complemented by a pinch of really good humor.
Magicka also comes with a coop mode for up to four players. Playing through the game as part of a team is much more interesting due to the need for finding and executing an effective strategy, e.g. one party member casts a defensive spell that creates a protective circle of stone, while the others are blasting the incoming enemies with their magic.
The game offers other modes, as well. These include the Challenge mode, where you can complete various challenges either alone or with the support of a friendly team.
