American football simulator. We take control of one of the licensed NFL league teams and try to get to the Super Bowl Final. Compared to last year's edition, there have been significant changes in graphics, player animations and the available fun options have been expanded.
The Madden NFL 99 is an extension of the solutions known from the previous version of the cycle, which met with a relatively cool reception among critics and players. As a result, the creators decided to introduce changes in the audiovisual layer and game mechanics. Traditionally, the line-up of all teams in the National Football League has also been updated.
Improvements cover virtually all aspects of the game - from easier navigation to menus to the new Arcade game mode for quick match play. We can still take part in the whole season of the Super Bowl finals and a special Pro Bowl event in which the best players play. For the first time, the equivalent of a career - Franchise mode was also introduced. It allows you to lead the selected team for up to fifteen seasons, train new players, sign contracts and make transfers between teams.
Enthusiasts of strategic planning should enjoy the game editor. Thanks to it, we are expanding a relatively limited pool prepared by artists. This allows you to adjust the course of the matches to your own preferences and the skills of the team. Nothing stands in the way of creating your own footballer with the built-in Create a Player option.
Just like a year ago, the creators attached great importance to improving the artificial intelligence of computer opponents. It was possible to achieve a more realistic course of meetings thanks to the use of a greater number of various animations. Much better looks like clashes with other players, and for example, the audience closely observe the flight path of the ball during the sprint.
In terms of graphic design, it is definitely in the foreground to abandon two-dimensional sprites of the competitors in favour of models built of three-dimensional solids. Additional effects in the form of stadium lighting, for example, look better. During the matches we can count on a lot of support from the audience, especially if we play the role of hosts. Pat Summerall was reinstated as a commentator.
