Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete Description
Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete is a refreshed version of Lunar: The Silver Star, a game released in 1992 on the Sega CD console. Like the original version, this is a classic Japanese role-playing game with a turn-based combat system. The title was created by Game Arts and Japan Art Media, while the English version of the title was prepared by Working Designs, a publisher specializing in localizations.
Story
The main character of Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete is a young boy named Alex, whose dream is to find four dragons and gain the title of the defender of the goddess Althena, the Dragonmaster. One day the boy sets off on a journey to make his dreams come true. He is accompanied by a group of close friends with whom he will experience many adventures. Together the team will discover the secret of the dark events associated with the previous Dragonmaster, who had disappeared without a trace fifteen years earlier.
Mechanics
Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete is a classic jRPG, in which the player explores vast locations and dangerous underground, performs quests commissioned by NPCs, gradually develops individual team members and takes part in turn-based battles. The battles, compared to other members of the genre, are characterized by the fact that individual members of the team can move on the battlefield, and one of the conditions for an effective attack is to be close enough to the opponent.
Technical aspects
The game offers two-dimensional visuals, which at the time of its release was criticized for its archaism and simplicity. However, the refreshed version, compared to the original one, boasts better visual effects, a larger palette of colors and high-quality sound. The devs diversified the fun with a greater number of cutscenes, improvements to gameplay mechanics and selected plot themes.
