A first-person dungeon crawler RPG. Lunacid: Tears of the Moon is a free-to-play game and was created using the Sword of Moonlight tool made by FromSoftware, allowing to design games in the style of King's Field. The game is a prequel to Lunacid and we play a mage who travels the dungeons under the kingdom of Lyria.
Lunacid: Tears of the Moon is a dungeon crawler RPG, created by Japanese developer Akuma Kira, who runs the independent studio Kira LLC. The game is distributed in a free-to-play model.
This is a prequel to the game Lunacid. It uses the tool called Sword of Moonlight, released by FromSoftware studio in 2000 and allowing to design other games in the style of the King’s Field series. For this reason, the described game in many ways resembles FromSoftware's project, which was one of the progenitors of the soulslike genre.
Gameplay
In Lunacid: Tears of the Moon we watch the action from a first-person perspective (FPP).
Dungeon exploration and fighting opponents
During the game, we mainly focus on exploring vast dungeons, as well as gathering better equipment and developing our magical abilities. Our equipment and also a wide range of spells come in handy on the battlefield.
Dynamic battles are a daily occurrence here. Our success is determined not only by the character's statistics and the equipment they hold, but also by our own skills. We must be constantly moving and avoiding enemy blows, while simultaneously launching accurate attacks with the help of melee weapons and spells.
However, when things get too hot, we can make use of crystal shards that allow to escape.
Character development
As we progress, we not only equip ourselves with increasingly powerful items, but also gradually develop our character. All of this makes it possible for us to face increasingly greater challenges over time.
Story
Lunacid: Tears of the Moon takes us to the fantasy kingdom of Lyria. The island is located in the very middle of the sea of poison and it owes its safety to the moonlight falling on it.
One day, the wizard Calamis Cerulean receives a vision, in which a creature known as the Great Old One, sleeping under the ground, awakens and plunges this piece of land into darkness. A mage embarks on a journey, the aim of which is to gather the magic of light and darkness and to persuade the moon to direct its silver light onto the Ancient One, plunging him back into a deep sleep.
Graphics
Due to the fact that Lunacid: Tears of the Moon was created using a tool associated with the King’s Field series, the graphic design of this game was maintained in a retro style, which brings to mind games from the first PlayStation console.
