Luminous Arc is a combination of adventure game and turn-based strategy. Its assumptions are very much reminiscent of such titles as Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis. However, it is not a carbon paper, but only borrows key elements, adding a lot from each other.

In the adventure part we talk to the characters we meet and move the plot forward. We can move around different types of locations thanks to a special map and, for example, buy new weapons or items that will be useful in the further part of the journey. The strategic part, in turn, takes us to the square board shown in the isometric projection. We place our team here and try to defeat the opponent's team in clashes divided into rounds.

Although the gameplay at the beginning may seem quite complicated, a very extensive tutorial allows you to familiarize yourself with the control. In Luminous Arc we play the role of a boy called Alph. Like his brother Theo and several other characters, he is a member of Garden Children, a group whose members have been trained since childhood to face monsters. By taking control of the Alps, we enter into adult life with him, because he faces his first duel in life.

The game is linear - each new location on the map is discovered with the passing of the previous, key place in the plot. The skills of our team are getting bigger and bigger with time, so every new land is characterized by stronger and stronger enemy creatures. The final test of our skills is a multiplayer, where two players can face each other. It is worth adding that the game contains spoken issues, so we are not only doomed to read the dialogues - we can also listen to them.
